Danilo Lazaro Diaz Garcia, Research Intern
Danilo Lazaro Diaz Garcia is an international student from the Dominican Republic currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a minor in Law, and a Certification in Dispute Resolution at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. With The Correction Lab, he is currently working on his capstone to examine patterns and trends in prison riots in the Northern Triangle region of Central America. He is part of the Future of Public Safety Scholars Program cohort, a program that supports students and provides them with an in-depth understanding of criminal justice system reform. Through this program, he is interning at the John Jay College Research and Evaluation Center. He previously interned at the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection as a mediator, focusing on resolving disputes between consumers and businesses. Danilo hopes to pursue a career serving the public through legal litigation that supports oppressed communities and holds accountable institutions that produce societal shortcomings.
